Hong Lei, a consul general, came to Metro Deaf School and visited our confucius classroom on Nov. 18. He is the very important person who leads the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Chicago.
Some of our students showed the diffrence between Chinese sign language and American sign language by some basic signs. Mr. Hong was very interested in it. With the help of interpreter, Mr. Hong walked into several classrooms and said hello to deaf children. He stated that he was so glad to see them have a strong interest in learning CSL and warmly welcomed them to China.
At the end of the visit, Mr.Hong and our principle Melissa exchanged the gifts. Mr.Hong said that MDS is not only a school for the deaf children, but also a space full of love created by all the teachers. He believed the opening of Confucius classroom will set up a new bridge of friendship between the deaf children from the two countries.
